God gave us two ears and one mouth. Maybe we're supposed to listen twice as much as we speak. If so, here are some tips on how to listen better: Desire to listen better. Unless the desire is there, you'll never become a better listener.
Accept the person's emotions, whether you think they're right or wrong. If you're a good listener, the other person is the priority, not you.
Be willing NOT to be right. Remember: your goal is to listen, not be right.
Keep great eye contact. As the other is speaking, look at them eye to eye.
Show appreciation for what they are saying. The best way to do this is to repeat back to them what they are saying. When you do this, watch their face as it glows in appreciation that you are listening.
Listening is a lost art. Let's try to reclaim it today. It's essential for us living together as friends and family.
