Our verse today is Mark 4:21: ""And he (Jesus) said,'Is a lamp brought in to be put under a basket, or under a bed, and not on a stand?'" This "lamp" is Jesus himself and his teachings about God's kingdom having come to earth in him. Jesus is the "light of the world," God himself who has now come into our presence.
When light enters a room, can it be hit under a basket? Or under a bed? Of course not! It must be put on a stand. When it is, it lights up the entire room! It must! Light dispels darkness. All darkness flees before light. Light overpowers darkness. It must! By its very nature it is stronger than darkness.
There's a reason a lot of people don't want to be in the presence of Jesus. Since he is the light of the world, he exposes everything that we want to hide, everything we've hidden in our dark souls. But only when we allow what we've tried to hide before God to be exposed can there begin the healing of our souls.
Please invite Jesus into your presence today. As you do, remember too that light has a healing power too. Once our deep wounds are exposed, Jesus then begins the marvelous work of healing our sin-sick souls.
Jesus came to expose and heal our hearts. Please allow him to begin this great work today.
