Today we take a look at the six verses of Psalm 1: 1 Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.

2 But they delight in the law of the Lord, meditating on it day and night.

3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.

4 But not the wicked! They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind.

5 They will be condemned at the time of judgment. Sinners will have no place among the godly.

6 For the Lord watches over the path of the godly, but the path of the wicked leads to destruction.

Verses 1 -3 address the joys associated with desiring and obeying God. When we do this our roots go deep into God's soil bearing good fruit - Godly character, good works and more - all for God's glory!

Verses 4 -6 addresses the wicked - the people whose lives are like the wind, blowing from one selfish passion to the next. They will one day face God.

God watches over the path of the Godly. The path of sinners ultimately leads to destruction.

Which are you? Which is your path? Are you like a tree planted by  the riverbank or a worthless seed scattered by the wind?

The key to these answers is your great "want to." Do you deeply, desperately want to obey God's law? That "want to" will show your heart's desire and path.
