Today's verses are Mark 15:31,32: "So also the chief priests with the scribes mocked him to one another ,saying, 'He saved others, he cannot save himself. Let the Christ, the King of Israel, come down now from the cross that we may see and believe.' Those who were crucified with him also reviled him." The people who passed by mocked and derided Jesus as he died on the cross. They shouted, "Save yourself and come down from the cross" (vs. 30). Also, the chief priests with the scribes join in. Even those being crucified with him reviled Jesus.
They all mock him, saying he saved others, why can't he save himself? They did concede that Jesus had saved others. He had given sight to the blind, the ability to walk to the lame, life again to those purportedly dead and food to the hungry. But they also believed they had finally silenced Jesus and his movement. They had forever stopped his blasphemy. His death was deserved. His teachings had been stopped.
Little did they know about God and his truth. Truth cannot be stopped. Justice will always prevail. Little did these mockers know of the power of God and how his will can never be silenced or stopped. Again, truth always prevails. Justice will always occur. Soon, there will be an outpouring of God's Spirit upon Jesus' lifeless body and he will be raised from the dead. Soon, there will be a movement of God's Spirit upon Jesus' disciples and they will continue to preach and spread Jesus' purported "blasphemy" to every nation on the face of the earth.
Whatever you are facing today, please remember and realize that God's will will be done. There is no earthly power that can ever stop God from doing what he desires. Bury Jesus and three days later he will be raised from the dead. Kill a Christian for his faith and ten more will rise to take his place. The blood of the martyrs was the seed of the early church's explosive growth and success.
Whatever you are facing today, trust God. Believe he is in control over all. There is nothing that escapes his oversight. Everything on earth is overseen by his sovereign, perfect plan. There is an appointed time for all. There is a season for everything under heaven.
Faith demands our perfect trust in this sovereign God. Those who mock his truth will one day face his justice. Of that I'm certain.
God's will will always be done.
It's truth that can be trusted today...and all days.
Therefore, trust God today in every area of your life.
