2 Corinthians 5 today, some of Paul’s most magnificent writings!  Here are the highlights: -Vs 1ff: the promised new bodies we inherit in heaven.  We put on “our new heavenly bodies like new clothing.”

-Vs 4ff: these bodies we presently live in cause us to sigh and groan but our new ones are swallowed up in eternal life.

-Vs 7: this promise of eternal life in Christ is something we believe in by FAITH, not by SIGHT.

-Vs 10: we all will stand before God one day and be judged by our works.  For the unbeliever, it’s the condemnation of works thinking we can become righteous. For believers, there is the expectation, though not saved BY our good works, we are saved FOR good works, we will do good works in appreciation for what Jesus has done for us.

-Vs 14: whatever we do for Jesus is because his love compels us to do it!  We love because he first loved us.

-Vs 17: we are new creations in Christ.  The old is gone.  The new has come.  A GREAT VERSE!  Please read it over and over and over again.  The old is gone.  The new has come.  Praise God!  Our sin is forgiven and forgotten!

-Vs 18: we’re called to bring others to God’s reconciliation in Christ, ministers of reconciliation!

-Vs 20: we’re ambassadors for Christ, representing the kingdom of God to this world.  Our citizenship is in another place.  Our lives represent the One who is our Lord and King.  We plead with others, “Be reconciled with God!”

-Vs. 21: (one of my favorites): the One who knew no sin, Jesus, became sin, took all our sins upon himself, so that we may become his righteousness.  When the Father looks at us now in Christ, he doesn’t see our sin, muck, gunk but sees Jesus’ perfection, holiness, righteousness.  We’re totally forgiven!  Praise God! What a gift!

Read and reread this chapter.  It’s rich beyond words!
