Today's verses are John 1:47,48: "Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and said of him, 'Behold, an Israelite indeed, in whom there is no deceit!'  Nathanael said to him, 'How do you know me?'  Jesus answered him, 'Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.'" My child, are you like Nathanael?  How I love the Nathanael's of the world!  They are ones I call true spiritual seekers.  There is no guile or deceit in them.  They are honest people.  They want to do what is right.  They are constantly looking for the right path.  These people, who truly and honestly seek truth, eventually find me.  That's why, when Nathanael started walking toward me, I could supernaturally see into his heart the kind of character he had.  I could view into his soul and see the kind of person he desired to be.  If you truly seek truth, without deceit, you will find me.

Nathanael was surprised I knew him and his character without ever meeting him.  But I knew him long before Philip ever said to him, "Come and see."  Yes, I saw him under the fig tree before Philip ever came to him about me.

The fig tree is symbolic of the nation of Israel.  God formed and called Israel to be a nation that would bear much fruit for him, thus the symbol of the fig tree becoming a national symbol of Israel.  Nathanael was sitting under a fig tree contemplating the nation of Israel.  He was wondering why God's people had wandered so far from their Creator's intentions.  He was wondering if there was any hope for Israel returning to its divine call.  He could not understand Roman occupation and oppression in light of this call.  He was looking for hope.

As he contemplated Israel and its divine call, Philip came to him and told him about me, the hope of Israel, the hope of the world.  That's why he quickly came to meet me.

In fact, long before Nathanael even thought about the hope of Israel under that fig tree, I knew him.  Before he ever considered me, I considered him.  I have known all my children by name before the world was ever created!

I have known you, too, by name before the world was ever created.  Before you ever contemplated me, I knew you by name.  Before you ever made a decision to follow me, I knew you by name.  Before you ever gave me one thought, I knew you by name.

If this is true (and it most certainly is!), you can trust me today.  I knew you by name before your conception, before your birth, before you drew your first breath, when you drew your first breath, your first diaper change, your first step, your first day in school, your first date, your marriage day and all days!  Every second of your life, I've known you by name.

If this is true (and it most certainly is!), you can trust me today with all your life's details.  Whatever is occurring in your life, trust me  I see all in your life.  I know all in your life.  Nothing escapes my attention

Trust me today.
