Today's verses are John 2:23-25: "Now when he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Feast, many believed in his name when they saw the signs that he was doing. But Jesus on his part did not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people and needed no one to bear witness about man, for he himself knew what was in man." My child, I performed many signs in Jerusalem and people started to believe in me. As they witnessed my mighty works, they started to follow me. It is very easy, when a crowd starts to follow you, to believe you are great. When the throngs and masses start telling you how wonderful you are, it's easy to believe their message. Your identity starts to depend on what other people believe about you. Let me warn you today: this is a dangerous place to be.
Why? Let me teach you a very valuable lesson today: entrust yourself to no one. You must know what is in the hearts of every single person who exists on this earth. The human heart is selfish and wicked above all else. Don't care what other people are thinking about you. They are not thinking about you much at all. They are too busy thinking about themselves. All humans are consumed with themselves.
People will disappoint you. People make lousy gods. People are looking out for ways to use other people for their own glory and satisfaction. They are constantly looking for an angle to take advantage of another person so they can be lifted up. Every, single human heart is bent toward self-aggrandizement. People want their own needs to be met first. They love things and use people, instead of loving people and using things.
That is why I entrusted myself to no human being. I knew what was in their hearts. That's the lesson I want you to learn today.
I came into this world to give people new hearts. I desire all people to be born of my Holy Spirit, to create a new heart within all who believe in me, placing a new love for me and others within them. I wanted this new love to be lived out among my followers, first, in marriage, then in my new community called the Church. When the world, filled with their selfish hearts, would see these new people living in love toward one another instead of selfish strife, they would want to know me too. They would want this same love within themselves.
My child, love one another today. Replace your bitterness and strife toward others with my love. Take your unforgiveness toward others and replace it with my forgiving love that I've given you.
But still be careful. The vestiges of the old self still lurk in people, even those who love me. Believe in me. I will never disappoint you. But do not believe in others. They will most assuredly disappoint you.
Don't entrust yourself to people. Entrust yourself solely to me, every day of your life.
Trust me today.
