Today's verses are John 5:21,22: "For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will. The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son..." My child, my claims to deity are many, especially prevalent throughout this Gospel. My Father raises all people from the dead. Everyone who lives will rise from the dead. But it is my responsibility, and my responsibility alone, to grant the new, spiritual rebirth life here on earth. It is my responsibility, and my responsibility alone, to grant eternal life when I come again to earth. And I will come again to earth (I Corinthians 15:42-57). That is my promise.
Throughout the Old Testament, raising the dead is my Father's sole right (Deuteronomy 32:39; 2 Kings 5:7). But here I claim this to be my right too. That is because I and my Father are one.
In the Old Testament, it is my Father's exclusive right to judge all people (Genesis 18:25; Judges 11:27). But here I claim that my Father has exclusively given me that right too. That is because I and my Father are one.
Raising the dead and the final judgment are my rights. The Father has given them to me. They are my responsibilities to perform. The Father and I are equal. I and in him and he is in me. These are two more claims to my exclusive deity. Do you believe that I am God? It is my undeniable claim here and throughout this Gospel.
What does this mean for you today? You were not created to live in this sin-stained, selfish, broken, fallen world. You were created to live in a world where you breathe pure air. You were created to live in a pollution-free environment. You were created to live without sickness and pain. You were created to live in a world where everyone loves one another. That world is coming. Eden will be reestablished. I will return one day and create a new heaven and a new earth.
All those who trust in me will live in this new world. If you have received me as your Lord and Savior, you need fear nothing. Your judgment before me has already happened. I have already declared you "not guilty." Your resurrection life has been secured, forever! All authority in heaven and on earth has been granted to me by my Father. I control all. I control your life. It's all in my hands. You are forgiven.
I will walk with you today. I will be your closest companion. My friend, the Holy Spirit, who resides in your heart, will be your counselor and guide today. Listen to his voice. Respond to his promptings. Serve others as he guides you to do. Love completely, as he will guide you to do. He cares deeply for you, as do I and my Father. We are all one. We all love you deeply. You are in our hands.
You can trust me today.
