Today's verses are John 6:22-24: "On the next day the crowd that remained on the other side of the sea saw that there had been only one boat there, and that Jesus had not entered the boat with his disciples but that his disciples had gone away alone.  Other boats from Tiberias came near the place where they had eaten the bread after the Lord had given thanks.  So when the crowd saw that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples, they themselves got into the boats and went to Capernaum, seeking Jesus. My child, the word quickly spread that I had fed twenty thousand people with five loaves and two fish.  Tiberias was the largest and most important city on the west shore of the Sea of Galilee.  People in boats from Tiberias came to the place where the feeding had taken place.  They met a large crowd there, all of them seeking me.

They saw that the one boat at the seashore was gone and had been taken by my disciples.  They heard too that I had not entered entered the boat when my disciples set sail toward Capernaum.  So they returned to their boats and headed toward Capernaum, all seeking me.

My child, why do you seek me?  This crowd simply wanted more free food.  They wanted another miracle.  They sought me to serve them, not to serve me.  They wanted me as their magical genie in the their life's bottle, to be rubbed and have me appear and say, "Your wish is my command."

But that is not the kind of followers and disciples I came to create.  If any one would choose to come and follow me, they are choosing to take up their cross and follow me.  They are choosing to die to self and live for my glory.  They are choosing to crucify their own lusts of their flesh and live a life that emulates who I am and my call upon their lives.  They are choosing to leave any other god, lust or passion that would place itself above me.  They are choosing to seek me and my kingdom first, and all my righteousness, then trust all the other "things" in this life, on this side of eternity, will be added to them.  It's a call that demands someone's entire life, soul, effort, energy... their all!

My child, is this you?  Do I have all of you?  Or am I a mere appendage, an "add on" to every other priority you have in life?  Do you think I am in your life only to serve you or do you believe your call in life is to serve me?  Is your life to serve or be served?  Am I the master passion of your life, lifted high above anything else?

Why are you seeking me?  Why do you quest after me?  Why do you want me in your life today?

As you fervently follow me, I promise I'll meet your every need.  I promise I'll be your sufficiency.

You can trust me today.
