Today's verses are John 8:10,11: "Jesus stood up and said to her, 'Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?' She said, 'No one, Lord.' And Jesus said, 'Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.'" My child, after I confronted the crowd with the challenge that the person who had never sinned tothrow the first stone, they dropped the stones, one by one, the older people first, then they left. Being left alone with the woman, I told her two important truths, ones applicable to her and to you.
First, I asked where were they? Where had the crowds gone? Where were her accusers? Where were those who were condemning her? Of course, they were nowhere to be found. They had left.
When I grant my forgiveness to a person, I never condemn them. I never accuse them. There is therefore now no condemnation in the person's life. If a forgiven saint ever feels condemnation, it's not from me! Accusing my brothers and sisters, my new, forgiven friends, is the work of my enemy, the evil one. He tries to find a law they have broken, a sense of failure in their lives, then spiritually paralyze them to render them ineffective in their Christian life.
Don't listen to this voice of condemnation! It's not from me! Again, there is therefore now no condemnation for those who have my life living in them. They are free from condemnation.
Second, I told her that since she was forgiven, she should now sin no more. She should pursue a life of holiness, as my Father in heaven is holy.
My forgiving grace should never be used as an excuse to sin. It's called greasy grace. Some people sin to allow my grace to abound in their lives. It should never be the case! It makes a mockery of my cross! It ridicules the purpose of my incarnation, death and resurrection! I came to set people free from the power of sin and death. I came to dwell in the hearts of humans to give them a power to keep them from sinning. I did not come to give people an excuse to use my grace to continue in their sin.
My child, if you have received my forgiving grace, don't listen to the voices of condemnation. They are not from me. If you have received my forgiving grace, go and sin no more! And if you should sin, either by carelessness or willful decision, confess it immediately. Know that I am faithful and just to forgive you again of all unrighteousness. My grace is stronger than your sin.
But don't ever use my grace as a license or excuse to sin. To say we never sin makes you a liar. To sin occasionally is a normal part of the fallen human condition. But to use my grace to sin again and again is a gross misuse of my forgiving love.
Today, walk without condemnation. Walk in a purified desire to sin no more, in holiness, reflecting the holiness of my Father in your life. My grace is sufficient for all your needs today.
You can trust me today.
