Today's verses are John 11:28-30: "When she had said this, she went and called her sister Mary, saying in private, 'The Teacher is here and is calling for you.'  And when she heard it, she rose quickly and went to him.  Now Jesus had not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha had met him." My child, Martha had left the grieving multitudes, having heard that I was approaching their hometown, Bethany.  We met outside the village where I had just told her that I was the resurrection and the life and that if anyone believes in me they will never die.  I wanted her to realize that her brother Lazarus would soon be raised from the dead.  I wanted to ready her heart for a mighty miracle of faith!

Then I asked Martha to leave and return to her home.  I wanted her to take Mary, his sister, in private and tell her that I was calling her to come to me.  Martha referred to me as "the Teacher," something commonplace, in that day, for any disciple to call the rabbi he or she was following.  She told Mary that "the Teacher" was calling to see her.

I wanted some time alone with Mary.  How I loved her!  She loved me passionately in return.  Her heart for me was pure.  Her desire to love me with all her heart abounded.  Therefore, I told Martha to tell Mary that I was calling her to come to me and spend time with me.  I wanted to touch her grieving heart, to reassure her weeping soul with all my promises.

My child, I am doing the same for you.  Today, if your soul seems shattered, and your heart has hurts, and your insides crave healing, hear my call to you.  My heart aches with yours.  Therefore, come to me.  Spend some time privately with me.  Go to a quiet place, perhaps a place where we've met before, or where we meet regularly, and I will be there to meet you.

Morning by morning I await for you to come to me.  Every day I yearn to spend time with you, to hear your heart, to understand your woes.  I call to you.  I wait for you.  I bid you to come and spend time with me, as I did Mary.

There is no burden you are caring that I don't want to carry too.  There's no hurt in your heart I don't desire to heal.  There's no pain you are experiencing with which I don't empathize.  There's no disappointment in your life I don't want to encourage you to become more than a conqueror.

My Father in heaven is for you.  If he was willing to give up his own Son for the forgiveness of your sins, how much more will he freely give you all things?  My plans for you are good, for a future and a hope.  My death on the cross proves it, doesn't it?

My child, come to me today.  Don't hesitate any longer.  I'm waiting to spend time with you.  I'm calling you to come.

You can trust me today.
