I hear people casually throw around how much they love God. If they do, I'm glad they do so. I'm especially glad that they want to express faith publicly.
But here's what I've learned through the years. The proof you love God is not your words. The proof you love God is the way you love that which God loves the most: his creatures, his children, and our neighbors!
Someone once came to me and said they wanted to bless me. They wanted to give me a nice gift. They asked me how they could best do this. I didn't hesitate in my response. "You want to bless me with a gift?" I asked. "Oh yes," came the response. Then I said, "Well, if you really want to express love to me, love that which I love the most: my wife and kids!"
I think God feels the same way. You want to express your love for God? Go beyond mere words. Love that which God loves the most: the crown of his creation, people, and your neighbor. When you do so, you are reflecting true love for the One who has given us everything. Deuteronomy 11:13 “And if you will indeed obey my commandments that I command you today, to love the Lord your God, and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul,
Go find a hurting person to love today. It's the best way you can love the God you say you love so much.
