Today's verses are John 12:31-33: "Now is the judgment of this world; now will the ruler of this world be cast out.  And I, when I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all people to myself.  He said this to show by what kind of death he was going to die." My child, within days I would go the cross and die for the sins of this world.  Within days, my Father in heaven's judgment on this world would come.  My Father will condemn all sins of all people for all times.

But instead of his wrath falling upon them (and you), it will fall upon me.  I knew that I would be my Father's penal substitute for your sins.  I would be the Lamb of God that takes away the sins of the world.  My Father's judgment for all sin would fall upon me instead of humanity.  He would give me the punishment I didn't deserve and give you the forgiveness you didn't deserve.

Also, when I died on the cross, the ruler of this present, fallen world, Satan himself, will be cast out.  He will be forever defeated.  In my death and resurrection, this foul enemy of my Father, and your soul, will be overcome.  If you receive and believe my completed work on the cross, he will have no more authority over you.  Plus, this victory on the cross will set the stage for the final consummation of my Father in heaven's triumph over all sin and death when I come again.

When I am "lifted up," a clear reference to my cross found in other places in my friend John's gospel (3:14;8:28), I will draw all people to myself.  This does not mean the entire human race for, obviously, many people will choose to reject me and not follow me.  This term means "all kinds of people" from around the world.  There will be Jews and Gentiles, rich and poor, young and old, black and white.  There will be people from all tribes and nations, from around the world, who follow me.

All these different kinds of people will be assembled in my Body, called the church.  In this community of my followers, in this fellowship of believers, you will love, encourage, pray for and serve one another.  Together, you will then continue to serve this dying world until I come again.

Note too it is I who draw you.  As you look at my cross, don't you feel my love reaching out to you?  It's an amazing grace, unconditional love, wooing you, calling you, drawing you to come and follow me.

When you choose to follow me, you will find that I was drawing you to myself all the time!  Every life situation, every relationship, every moment you've lived has been a part of my desire to draw you to myself.

My child, please again know the power of my cross.  Know how much I love you.  Realize it's such a great love that it demands your life, your soul, your all.  I gave my life for you.  What more could I give?  How much more could I do to show you my great affection to draw you to myself?

You can trust me today.
