Today's verses are John 21:12-14: "Jesus said to them, 'Come and have breakfast.'  Now none of the disciples dared ask him, 'Who are you?'  They knew it was the Lord.  Jesus came and took the bread and gave it to them, and so with the fish.  This was now the third time that Jesus was revealed to the disciples after he was raised from the dead." My child, all the disciples had now reached shore.  Peter arrived first.  Then the others followed.

After a long night of fishing, without anything to eat, I knew that they were hungry.  I offered them breakfast.  First, I gave them the bread I had fixed for them.  Then I gave them the fish.  With the load of fish they had brought from the sea, there would be plenty for all, plus much more that they could take to the market and sell.

I want you to see how I cared for their every need, even before they asked!  The same is true for you.  Before you ever had a problem, I had thought through the solution.  Before you ever had a need, I had thought through what you needed.  I always go a step before you.  I always know what you need before you've even thought of it!  Before you ever utter a prayer, I already know the answer.

I am a path to your feet.  I am a light to your path.  I go ahead of you to prepare a place for you in heaven.  If it weren't so, I wouldn't have told you!

My disciples never asked me who I was.  They knew it was me.  They knew by my voice.  They knew by my actions.  They knew by my appearance.  They especially knew in the way that I served them.  In heaven, you too will be able to recognize your loved ones by their voices, actions and appearances.

I came not to be served but to serve and to give my life away.  Even in this resurrection appearance, I served my disciples.  I was modeling what I wanted from them: to learn to be servants, not superstars.  You are never more like me than when you serve and give your life away.

This was my third resurrection appearance.  I wanted them to grasp the reality that I was alive!  I had been raised from the dead.  It had really happened.

My child, without my resurrection from the dead, my followers are people most to be pitied.  Without the resurrection, I'm still in the tomb.  My proclamation that my life gives victory over sin and death is useless.

But I was raised from the dead.  I am alive.  I did overcome death.  My resurrection assures your forgiveness from your sins.  My resurrection assures your own resurrection.  Because I live, you are assured that nothing is stronger than my resurrection life that now lives in you.  The very power that raised me from the dead now lives in you!

I am your resurrection and your life.  If you believe in me, you will never die.  Believe this truth today.  I appeared over and over again to my disciples to assure them that the resurrection is true.  It is true!  Therefore, you can face tomorrow.  And...

You can trust me today.
