Today's verses are John 21:22,23: "Jesus said to him, 'If it is my will that he remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow me!" So the saying spread abroad among the brothers that this disciple was not to die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he was not to die, but, 'If it is my will he remain until I come, what is that to you?'" My child, I was telling Peter that he would be crucified like I was. He looked and saw John walking near us. He asked, "What about him? Will he have to face a cross too?"
Peter was falling prey to the snare to compare. He wanted to know if John would have to suffer like he did.
Frankly, I told Peter it was none of his business how I treated John, or any other of my followers. I told him that if John remained alive until my Second Coming, that was solely my business with John. I then said to him, "You follow me." I adjured him simply to be loyal to me every day that he lived. That's all for which he was responsible.
My child, I have a unique call upon and plan for every one of my followers. My purpose for each life is to conform you into my image. Since you all are so very different, I use different situations and strategies to accomplish this purpose. What works for one person may not work for another. That's why you must avoid the snare to compare. You must not become angry with me if I'm doing one thing in you but doing something entirely different in another one of my followers.
Trust that my plan for your life is good. Trust that I am using all things together for your good and my glory. Believe that slowly but surely I am shaving off all your selfish edges so that you will look more like me. Believe that my desire and design is to make you into an eternal creature, one fit for heaven!
John then said that this teaching to Peter became misunderstood among my followers all over the world. They wrongly thought that John was never to die. But that was not what I told Peter. I simply told him, "If it is my will that he main until I come, what is that to you?" I simply asked a question. I did not make a definitive statement.
The truth is John did undergo his own form of persecution. He was boiled in water but did not die. Then he was exiled on the island of Patmos, where I appeared to him and gave him special insights into the end times and my Second Coming. He died of old age. But he still had to undergo my plan for his life. And I used all that he went through to prepare him for heaven. He too was conditioned for eternity by all that he went through on earth.
Trust I'm doing the same with you. There is nothing you're going through that I'm not using for my purpose in your life.
Like Peter and John...
You can trust me today.
