Dear Members of the Forest Hill Family and faithful readers of this blog, I’m excited for 2014 and all for the new and exciting things it will bring. I wanted to let you all know that this blog will look a little different in 2014.

For the past two years, I've been taking a couple of verses every day from two Gospels (Mark and John) and trying to give insights into their meaning. The Mark daily devotional was more a commentary. The John daily devotional was trying to look at the verses from Jesus' perspective.

This year, I want to look at this world and the lives we lead through a Biblical worldview and perspective. Some days it will be my response to something in the headlines, others it will be on topics like marriage, parenting, relationships, or other contemporary issues – with practical applications straight from Scripture and my years of ministry. I will continue to sprinkle in my commentary on various Scripture readings as we follow along on the Bible Reading Schedule.

Hopefully, this new blog format will also allow spiritual seekers to find answers to their questions and help those who know Christ continue to grow in their faith.

In addition to the new blog format, I'm also looking forward to our four church-wide goals: 1. A new campus in Waxhaw area. 2. A focused work among the hurting along South Boulevard. 3. A new church plant in the Matthews area. 4. A new church-planting institute in Santo Domingo, Domincan Republic, to help plant hundreds of churches in the Latin American rim in the years to come.

In 2014, I covenant to continue to preach God's Word and Jesus' life-transforming Gospel.

Personally, I keep hearing the word "COURAGE". I promise I will preach and lead faithfully and courageously.

May 2014 grant blessings for you, your family and Forest Hill, blessings beyond anything we could have ever hoped for or imagined.

To God alone and always belongs all the glory.

Under His Grace, David
