I can't speak for you, but I want to burn out in life, not rust out.  I want constantly to find new horizons to try and see and conquer.  I don't want to retire but refire in life! That's why I like the following statement from George Bernard Shaw.  It expresses this idea well.  It's entitled "A Splendid Torch" and it reads:

I want to be thoroughly used up when I die

For the harder I work, the more I live,

Life is no brief candle for me.

It is a sort of splendid torch which

I have got hold of for a moment,

And I want to make it burn as brightly

As possible before handing it on

In future generations.

May we all be "splendid torches" today.  For life is as brief as we make it out to be.
