Psalms 124 and 125 are our readings today.  I want to camp especially in Psalm 124.  Its opening verses give us a wonderful promise from God.  Here it is: my God is FOR me.  Or, to put it in the psalmist's language: "If the Lord had not been on our side--let Israel now say--if the Lord had not been on our side when people rose up against us, they would have swallowed us alive because of their burning anger against us" (vss 1-3). King David says the Lord is on his side not once but twice.  A friend of mine once said, "If God says something once, pay special attention.  If he says it twice, it's really important."  This statement is said twice.  "If the Lord had not been on our side."

Think about it.  If you are a Christ follower, Romans 8:32 says, "I know this, my God is FOR me."  There it is again.  God is on our side.  He is FOR me.  He oversees our lives.  Even though raging waters would try to overwhelm us (vs 5), they won't.  Even though traps are set for us, we are set free (vs 7).

Why is this?  Because our help is from the Lord, the maker of heaven and the earth (vs 8).

In fact, Psalm 125:1 goes on to say, "Those who trust in the Lord are as secure as Mt. Zion; they will not be defeated but will endure forever."  As mountains protect Jerusalem, so does the Lord surround and protect his people now and forever (vs 2)!  Just make sure your heart is in tune with this (vs 4).  Then trust him totally, today and forever.

Why?  Because God is on the side of those who truly love him.  He is FOR me!

I hope this word from God's Word encourages your heart no matter what you may face today.
